Beijing 2008 Olympic games

Considered one of the best Olympics ever, the 29th Olympiad has come and gone. With so much anticipation, Beijing and China are indeed "ready" for it, and have a very good job, and will be beneficial from the Olympics for years to come. There are many special moments: the unprecedented 8 golds for Micheal Phelps, the dominance of Chinese in diving and gymnastics, to the Jamaica eruption on short-distance running, to the sad withdrawal of Liu Xiang, and many more. Everyone is watching and discussing the events, and that's a good thing to the Olympics and the host country. We now look forward to 2012 in London.

Randy Pausch

A few months ago, I got a forward email about Randy Pausch, a professor of Computer Science in Carnegie Mellon University. In 2006, he's diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. A year later, the cancer had spread and he was told in August 2007 to have just three to six months of good health. Most of us would slip into a deep depression, but Randy used the experience as teaching material. He delivered his "Last Lecture" titled "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams" in front of an audience of 400 people at CMU on September 18, 2007, and it's been viewed by millions.

On July 25, 2008, Randy died.

free cash

Earlier this week, Macau government, in attempt to ease high inflation, announced every Macau citizen, including those residing in other countries, will receive $5000 (Macau dollars) cash.

Schweeeeeeeet~

Sounds too good to be true, but I'll take it, if they don't make it too complicated.

Charmian's wedding

The wait is over.

My dear friend Charmian got married on April 12, 2008. It's THE wedding I'll remember. Let me say how honoured I am to participate into the preparations and planning of this wedding. Now I know it truly takes endless amount of efforts and nice people to make a great wedding day happen.

It's a rainy and cloudy day; I call it "showers of blessings". The bride and groom are as happy as I've seen. Things go very smoothly and on schedule. I know the bride has been struggled to fight off the pressure and stress, and lost a lot of weight, especially in the past weeks. As it turns out, she just looks amazingly pretty from top to bottom, partially thanks to the make-up artists.

The ceremony is held at the church they go to, and the banquet in Chinese restaurant. Many great people showed up, implying how blessed this couple is. The banquet is lovely and perfect, with a great MC and great food that I can truly enjoy. During the slideshows and speeches, I'm so touched (although I've seen them many times; in fact I help preparing them). Once a little girl, my friend has grown up and now starting a new life. Congratulations Charmian!! Wish you all the best!!
